The prime time for promoting a new program is within the first week or so after launch. After that, the market starts becoming saturated with it. In the beginning, a handful of people are promoting the new program (usually JV partners). Once they each recruit a few a hundred people, those hundreds of people start promoting it. Now, your competition is so fierce, that finding more than a couple affiliates will become very difficult.

If you are on more than a couple lists, you will see some of them sending you very similar emails about the program all at once. After a couple days, you don’t hear much about it from them. That’s because their conversions will start to die down, and they will move on to the next thing.

So, this is what you do. You grab your membership the moment it is available (the first email you get). Then, start promoting it like crazy that day. Don’t let up for at least a week. You’ll catch more people that are getting in on the craze.

Your results will always depend on the program and how many JV’s are promoting it. But, I bet you will get much better results in that first week than in the next couple months.

I have found that there is a lot of good, honest information in forums. There is still bogus information there, but it is much easier to pick out. Posters will usually debunk any myths that are placed there.

You need to be patient in your marketing efforts. I spent the first year not making a dime. Of course, I had no real idea how to market my products. After that first year, I gave up. My products lay dormant for another two years. Then one day, my eye caught one of my traffic exchanges in my bookmarks folder. I realized that it been two years since I logged in. So I logged in and started surfing and really paying attention to the sites that I was viewing. I made notes of key terms and the different types of programs that were available. I then started to get an idea how they all were being marketed. I opened up a new browser to do research on these terms and concepts. I found a lot of information that really showed me the different ways that were successful in bringing the product to the viewers.

Many of these methods of marketing are free. You can get pretty good results by using these free resources. I would recommend staying away from the paid resources until your business starts to become successful.

Make a daily schedule and stick to it. I have found myself spending all day online working and not really accomplishing anything. Spending every five minutes checking your stats and email doesn’t get you anywhere. Check it first thing in the morning and the last thing at the end of the day. Spend a little time doing research each day. In the beginning, that will probably be a big part of your day. Once you have your research done, you can focus on promoting.

In the beginning, start with one or two programs to start promoting. It gets overwhelming quickly when you start subscribing to nearly every program you see that has an attractive offer. Start small and gradually build on it by adding another program or two when you get going on the previous ones. As you go, it will be easy to manage all of your programs.

I was a little sceptical at first. I was pleasantly surprised when I got into the members’ area. There is a huge menu of opportunity categories. The “real jobs” are jobs such as telemarketers, data entry clerks, virtual secretaries, email responders, editors, tutors, and much more. But, I haven’t looked at them all, so I’m sure there are some good ones I’m missing.

What I really like about the site is all the great information about making money online. I learned more about article marketing here in a day than I did over the last six months. There is also advice on making money with pictures, typing ads for companies, and how to get government grants.

I was able to draw a good amount of traffic from the traffic exchange site TrafficSwarm. It’s a very simple idea. You get 1-5 credits for viewing other websites for 20 seconds each. Those credits are used to show other people your website. As a free member, you get credits just for opening the home page. It’s a great concept with instant results. Not only did I drive traffic to my site, I was able to see all the other affiliate sites out there, as well as get a taste of the marketing tools that were available. That is when I started to get the real picture of internet marketing.

I then read that I should promote Dish Network on my website. Well, I didn’t have a website. I was in college at the time working on science degree. So, I thought that I could create a website to help other college students in my particular field. I started a free website with very limited content and put up a banner for my Dish Network site. I eventually purchased a domain name and added a little more to my website. I still didn’t get any results.

For about six months or so, I visited TrafficSwarm on a regular basis to keep my credits up. I got a nice amount of hits, but no sales. At that point, I kinda got bored of the whole thing, and pretty much forgot about it. A couple years later, the quest would be revived.
